The FinX website and email service go down

Financial ExpressIf you are a FinX subscriber and you somehow didn’t get your usual email news updates this morning, you’re not alone. The service is having problems today. We just got notified this morning by the FinX managing director, Nyaradzai Chigwida, that the service is down and that the FinX team is working to restore things.

The FinX email updates are pushed out from the company’s web platform, www.finx.co.zw, which is the one that’s actually down. The MD says the problem has been identified to be at the hosting level and that their techies are working to bring the site back online as soon as they can.

Finx has been having technical issues with their web platform lately and have had to use finx.co.zw/finxtemp/ instead of the usual finx.co.zw for several weeks now. We’re told today’s problems are not related to that  issue however.

We last wrote about FinX back in September last year. The startup provides financial analysis, news updates, business news aggregation, stock market intelligence, tender information and business news commentary via emails and the web platform. Users of the service pay a monthly fee to receive the daily emails but viewing the updates on the website is free. The email subscription model is similar to that of Zanj Financial Network (Zfn) which also provides news financial analysis and news aggregation.

Update: (14 Feb 2012, 1900hrs) FinX is back online

this should be related to the yoafrica network being unavailable most of today

This is nonsense, especially coming from a company that serves business-oriented people. They should have hosted their sites with reliable hosts outside Zimbabwe like some clever people do. If i were them i would host my site with wordpress.com which also hosts CNN, AOL, and Bloomberg sites.

I dont think they are to blame per se. We had problems with yoAfrica all day, just like the first comment. These are things that are usually overlooked and its really not their fault. The good thing is at least they got the word out.

Where can I get contact details to subscribe to ZFN or FinX?
