The who’s who of Zimbabwean telecoms and banking were present at the inaugural Mobile Money and Digital Payments Conference and Awards held in Harare yesterday.
The first session revealed that regulators from both sides (telecoms and banking) have been found wanting in terms of setting regulations that are required to enable both protection of consumers and product innovation.
The second session discussed what has now become a song; sharing. There is a need to ensure interoperability amongst players in mobile money to reduce costs and increase the prospects of financial inclusion.
The third session concentrated on exploring what the future of mobile payments is going to be in Zimbabwe.
The conference concluded with the presentation of awards to various outstanding performers. Here are some of the moments captured from the event.
