We recently added a page on Techzim that shows some upcoming events that we would have come across. The events don’t necessarily have to be tech focused like all about coding or Bitcoin. So if you know of an event that you think others should know about, feel free to let us know and we’ll add it to the page.

Right now onto the actual events that we currently know about that are happening in August across the country.

Mobile Money and Digital Payments Conference – 2017

This is a conference that is held annually. It aims to have a wide range of delegates participating in a discussion on various issues on the mobile money and digital payments ecosystem. Some of the issues that will be explored are cash challenges, the converged licensing framework and risk management frameworks.

Some of the people who will attend will be from leading telecoms companies, banks, regulators, and insurers. It’s a good event for business oriented people who want networking opportunities and to gain insights on the problems being faced by the mobile commerce industry.

Coding day by HabeNerd

Coding day is like a mini boot camp for people interested in code. Coding boot camps have risen in popularity world over and even in Zimbabwe, we have the likes of Muzinda hub. This event by HabeNerd aims to give people an overview of the tech industry.

The overview will cover programming languages, careers in ethical hacking and programming, and how to build some stuff like websites, animations etc. A day will probably not be enough to get you to be a coding rock star.

However, if you’re someone who’s been interested in such stuff but weren’t sure where to start, it could be a good thing to attend and get a taste of the different things the IT world offers.

PyCon Zimbabwe 2017

PyCon is a four-day conference that aims to increase the visibility of developers. It brings together people of different knowledge and skill levels in Python. Some people will give talks different subjects while others will conduct tutorials and coding exercises.

The different activities that will be happening are all in an effort to share knowledge, meet interesting people and have fun while at it.
