Yesterday was the first day of ICT Africa 2012. Unlike last year, this is going to be a 2 day event. The first was actually the more active of the two as there was, in addition to the exhibitions, a heated discussion on smartphones on the market. Later in the evening, the Minister of ICT in Zimbabwe, Nelson Chamisa toured the exhibitions and later officiated the celebration the exhibition’s 25th anniversary and renaming of COMSA to ICT Suppliers Association of Zimbabwe.

This year’s winners of the Best Exhibitions and Best Product were also announced at the evening cocktail. The best exhibition prize was Belina Payroll and the best product was an Epson BrightLink Interactive projector that was on display at the Mecer stand.

Conspicuous by their absence at this year’s exhibition were most companies in the Econet family. Only Transaction Payment Solutions (TPS) exhibited. Zimbabwe Online, Liquid Telecom and Econet Wireless itself all did not exhibit this year. Other companies like YoAfrica!, that have traditionally been at these exhibitions also didn’t attend.

We have included below some photos from the exhibitions. You can also view more photos from the event on our Facebook Page.
