Africa Exchange

Africa ExchangeAfrica Exchange, an organisation working to promote regional and international trade and investment will be hosting an ICT event on the 10th of February (about a week from now) dubbed the “Meeting of Minds”. The event will be held in Harare and aims to bring together the ICT Ministry representatives and private players in the industry to discuss development strategies for the sector.

Next month’s event is the second and follow-up event to the first “Meeting of Minds”  held last year in September. Speakers at the event will include the permanent secretary of the ministry of ICT Eng. Kundishora, the computer society of Zimbabwe president Atwell Mukusha, Mukonitronics managing director Lovemore Mukono, and Westchase Consultants managing director Mkhululi Ndlovu amoung others.

The targeted attendees for the event include such profiles as CEOs and general industry leaders, government officials, investors and non-profit organisations country representatives.

According to the organisers, one of the desired outcomes of the event is the creation of an ICT Month for Zimbabwe, starting with this coming March. The month will be set aside for the launch of government and private sector priority ICT initiatives.

We think the idea of an IT month idea is quite commendable as a means to bring some focus onto an industry that has so much untapped potential to improve the rapid and effective attainment of knowledge and skills by Zimbabweans, especially as there are some proposed initiatives already for the education sector.

Unfortunately, there’s not much information about the event on the organisations’s website to help anyone take action if they’d like to attend. There are some contact details though that you can use to get more information on how to sign up for the event.
