We finally received a copy of the strategic plan from the ministry. Here it is for download.
We provide a summary of the most significant strategic objectives for those of you too ‘busy’ to read the whole document. We also note a few important issues at the end, that we feel are lacking in the ICT ministry’s’ strategic plan.

While ICT security has been a cause for concern in most economically developed countries, Zimbabwe’s ICT business and professionals seem to take a back seat, preferring to wait-and-see hoping nothing too disastrous hits them. Should we really worry much about ICT security or is the current approach working for us?

Cisco, the leading supplier of networking equipment and network management for the Internet, saw it fit to develop a separate curriculum for securing networks, the backbone of computing. Networking, software and systems engineering security professionals world over specialize in this important aspect of ICT systems clearly showing that deliberate and not passive security of any information communication system. Indeed, serious enough to warrant being addressed purposely in the national ICT bill.
