Computer Society of Zimbabwe Function - Spiritage

The Computer Society of Zimbabwe function this month (there’s one every month) is a presentation titled “Communication Technologies for the Future”. We just received the flyer from the society and we’re going to be there to listen in and interact with the techies and business people that come to these functions. But more importantly, we’re going to be there because of the opportunity to listen and speak to the presenters at the function, the Spiritage Communications executives.

Spiritage you remember launched Brodacom just last month. There was talk of 4G and a lot of exciting stuff. The talk itself died down eventually and like you, we’re still curious about so many things.

Two Spiritage executives will present; Parkvoo Mutendera, the Spiritage Zimbabwe Group Chief Commercial Officer, and Kangai Maukazuva, Spiritage Communications Managing Director.

Here’s the flyer we received with the full profiles of the speakers:

See you there!

how about asking people to suggest questions they want answered by spiritage execs. lm tired of listening to these “clueless” execs who seems to fail to  separate business advertising from business tech achievement.

Are they not the same company which promised a lot when they got launched few moons back? What happened to all that glittering launch?

Seriously speaking, its high time they stop talking more and start listening to people and answering questions.

By the way the look more like them church pastors on the mission to raise some serious cash, couldn’t they get a better way of presenting their leaflet, something which shows they are from a tech company?

We I thought that this was a flyer by the CSZ. Well personally I feel that CSZ has done very little in terms of awareness. We are not aware of membership and the programs they are running.

Their website is not up to standard and I feel there is much that can be done on CSZ front. At one point I wanted to join but I felt there is little these guys are doing. CSZ please come out of the shell and be active we want to see you and be members.

Zimbabwe is very unique in that most of the telecommunications companies are being headed by individuals who are professionals in Marekting, Accounting, HR, Strategy, Management etc. In my view the challenges facing companies like Econet speak to this effect if one looks at the board members. Taking a look globally, one would see that most of the leaders of the most successful technology companies have an organic engineering and IT background, simillar to Econet when Strive was leading the company. Marketers had easier responsibilities before becoz we worked with traditional business models. Lets see how creative the marketers will be in this tech space as we focus more on innovative not traditional business models. Where big companies compete with a teenager easting in his bedroom for online services piggy backing on the data networks of the future. Marketers are good in speeches but we need people to deliver.
