Yesterday Facebook announced some tweaks on it’s algorithm on both pages and user newsfeeds. The news changes mean that page admins will need to focus more on media rich posts instead of text-only posts to have a greater reach.
Initially Facebook had assumed that text-only posts encouraged better engagement and a general increase in status updates (something we implemented last week and saw wider reach and engagement on text-only posts). However, further tests from Facebook showed this assumption is not necessarily true for pages and Facebook admins need to take note.

We are learning that posts from Pages behave differently to posts from friends and we are working to improve our ranking algorithms so that we do a better job of differentiating between the two types. This will help us show people more content they want to see. Page admins can expect a decrease in the distribution of their text status updates, but they may see some increases in engagement and distribution for other story types.

These changes are immediate and we noticed this on the Techzim Facebook page as post with links had wider reach compared to last week when they had a lower reach.
By contrast, last weeks’ text-only posts had a wider reach compared the lower reach being experienced now on text-only posts.
Have you noticed these drastic change in reach on your Facebook page posts as well?
