We are excited to announce the second edition of the Broadband Forum scheduled for the 6th of June 2014 at Cresta Lodge Harare riding on the theme “Rolling the D.I.C.E. for a connected Future.” The event is focused on creating a platform where the various stakeholders from different facets of broadband technology can identify its numerous opportunities, solidify existing networks for growth and forge new ones as well.
Other huge takeaways will be the shared perspectives on the vast opportunities in the broadband arena through two way engagement as well as the opportunity for everyone to participate in the moulding of Zimbabwe and Africa’s broadband future.
The forum’s theme is a reflection of how D.I.C.E. , an acronym for digital information, commerce and entertainment, has brought the importance of broadband as an enabler of opportunities in the digital age to the fore. As the continent and indeed Zimbabwe contemplates on how a brighter future lies ahead in tech there has to be clear appreciation and implementation of these opportunities.
The power of broadband as an enabler for development lies in taking advantages of opportunities that spring from its relevance to multi sector services. Broadband capabilities mean investment opportunities in many areas including e-commerce, agriculture, health, entertainment, communication, education and information dissemination.
The creation of local content to harness these opportunities will have a huge impact on GDP growth, which is something that should be focused on to make this a reality.
