Are local IT practitioners doing enough about Information Security? The answer to that question depends on several factors, but all of the responses you’ll get don’t change the fact that IS Security is a very important part of any serious discussion on tech.

It’s no surprise then, that the Computer Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ) has focused its attention on this issue. From the 17th to the 19th of June 2015, The Computer Society of Zimbabwe will be hosting its annual business school and conference in Kadoma.

Running under the theme “Towards a Secure Digital Future”, the gathering is open to both members and non-members of the Computer Society of Zimbabwe. Until the 17th of May, the CSZ is signing up interested participants for a fee of $550 for members and $650 for non-members.

Various aspects of Information Security are set to be explored during the conference, including issues around cyber laws and regulation, information risk and IT Risk assurance as well as building secure infrastructure and innovations.

This adopts a different beat from the Society’s Summer School. Last year’s, for example, focused on mobility as a permanent feature of tech and the importance of innovation in the building of a billion dollar ICT industry.

According to the Computer Society of Zimbabwe, there’s a lot of value which is going to be traded through practical learning and engaging workshops, which, unfortunately, will not be shared through online platforms. If you want to tap into any of this, you have to be there.

If you are interested in being apart of this you can get a hold of the CSZ. The contact details for The Computer Society of Zimbabwe are available on social media platforms. You can follow this link here.
