DEMO Africa has announced the list of 30 startups that will pitch at the tech startup showcase in Nigeria this September. Making it to that list are two Zimbabwean startups, Road Rules and IPC eProductivity.
Road Rules, a mobile application that provides learning material for the driver’s licence learner’s test, secured its place at DEMO Africa after taking part in the DEMO Africa pre-pitch event held in Harare last month. This pre-selection process was conducted in other parts of Africa, securing teams from East, West and Northern Africa.
The second startup representing Zimbabwe, IPC eProductivity hasn’t been in the public eye. According to its VC for Africa profile, it is an on-line productivity calculator that helps organisations determine their key drivers of productivity, thus helping focus their energies on the right factors to improve overall profitability.
IPC eProductivity is a 6-person team comprised of Lovemore Jokonya, Memory Nguwi, Collin Bhiza, Dorcas Bhebhe, Mary Jokonya and Leopold Ramutsamaya. They have a prototype that has been trialed with 2 companies.
These two startups will be showcasing their solutions to potential investors and business partners, which is the opportunity that DEMO Africa presents to the shortlisted teams.
Last year, the team representing Zimbabwe, Saisai Wireless, was recognised with the SWELL Award for Innovation. This was an award arranged by SWELL, a global innovation partnership and corporate innovation accelerator that is an affiliate of DEMO Africa.
