AfricaCom, the annual African telecoms conference whose 2015 edition has run from the 17th to the 19th of November also featured another annual telecoms event through its AfricaCom Awards ceremony which was held on the 18th of November.

Liquid Telecom, the Pan-African telecoms carrier which is part of the Econet Wireless Group was in the running for 5 awards, and walked away with the Changing Lives Award. This was in recognition for the free WiFi project executed by Liquid Telecom and the Kenyan Office of the President in the east African country’s Nakuru County.

Some of the other entities honoured at the AfricaCom Awards included Huawei (Best Network Improvement)First National Bank (Excellence in Customer Experience Management for FNB Connect), Project Isizwe the city of Tshwane’s Free WiFi project (Best Connectivity Solution for Africa) and Unitel’s Kisom. (Best Marketing Campaign)

This marks another honour for the Liquid Telecom team which has consistently been identified as one of the leading telecoms concerns in Africa. This recognition has culminated in several awards over the past few years. This year, Liquid Telecom already took home some awards from other bodies, and more recently it was identified as the leading carrier on the African continent.

Although the year’s almost out, Liquid Telecom is still in the running for another honour at the World Communication Awards to be held in December.

This series of awards and mentions has been a good testimony for the telecoms company as it gears up for a listing on a European Stock Exchange in 2016.
