Telecash, the mobile money service owned by mobile operator Telecel, has reduced its tariffs as it aims to encourage the use of its platform as a leading solution for the cash crisis in Zimbabwe.
The tariff reduction is for the entire Telecash services suite covering cash outs, payment options, and its debit card, the Telecash Gold Card.
Some of the reductions include the lowering of bill payments from $3.70 to a maximum of $1.50 while bill payments that cost less than $5 have been zero-rated.
Gold debit card charges have been reduced from a maximum of $2.95 to $0.45 and transactions made woith the card that are less than $2 are now free.
So far, EcoCash, Econet’s mobile money service had been the only channel to make adjustments like zero-rated payments to cater for the current cash shortage. Though Telecash took a while to respond its adjustments are for a wider range of mobile financial transactions.
