Remember the Facebook launches Bots Developer Challenge wrote about last month? There’s some good news for those of you looking to take part.
As part of activities to promote the challenge, a local tech hub called Impact Hub Harare is working with Facebook to host a Bot Party this month. Essentially you will learn how to make make a Facebook bot, some new tricks if you already know how, and generally have an opportunity to mix with like minded folk.
Here’s the full brief we got from them:
Are you a software developer based in Zimbabwe? Do you think you have what it takes to build the next revolutionary bot for Messenger?
Then would like you to join us Impact Hub for the first Facebook Messenger Bot Party in Zimbabwe and the Impact Hub Maker Fair powered by Siemens due to take place on 25th March 2017, from 12am to 4.00pm at the Discovereum. Learn how to make a bot that can be entered into the Bots for Messenger Challenge.
Facebook has launched the Bots for Messenger challenge for Middle East and Africa. A contest to reward and recognise developers that are able to create innovative new bots on messenger across these three categories:
a) Gaming and Entertainment
b) Productivity and Utility
c) Social Good

We don’t know yet if a similar event will be held in Bulawayo, but we’re guessing plans are underway because Bulawayo’s got some serious devs esp at NUST. We’ll update the article if once we get information on this.
