A Fintech company in Zimbabwe, Golix ( Update: previously known as BitFinance) has some fresh vacancies… 4 to be precise!
This is obviously good news, I mean it goes without saying. There isn’t much formal employment available, in fact there hasn’t been in a while. So here’s a chance for you to be that Product Manager, Designer, Data Scientist (speaking of which, you might want to check this out) or Software engineer you’ve always wanted to be (or suddenly decided you wanted to be)….. ride on it!
After the founders of Golix realised how the process of making international payments from Zimbabwe was a nightmare for most, even impossible for some; they decided to solve this problem using digital currencies such as bitcoin, Litecoin and Dash.
So in essence, Golix seeks to give everyone financial autonomy.

Position 1: Product Manager
Responsibilities
- You will own and set their product roadmap
- You collaborate with the software engineering manager to reduce operational complexities
- You focus on user experience
- A clear understanding of design trade-offs
- You relentlessly reduce operational complexity
Requirements
- Experience working directly with engineers
- You are data driven and are able to manipulate raw data
- You have an understanding of effective agile processes.
- You have a strong desire to learn
- Prior product leadership experience with one or more successful products.

Position 2: Designer
Responsibilities
- Take high level product ideas from conception to mockups and finished renderings, working with the engineering team and product managers
- Provide product vision and leadership in making digital currencies easier to use and trusted
- Implement user flows, interactions, and experiences that are simple, intuitive, and consistent across web and mobile platforms

Position 3: Data Scientist

- Audit and analyse data produced by Golix internal products as well as other external sources
- Publish clear and accurate data visualisations and reports per user requests
Requirements
- Experience in data analysis and data design using SQL
- Computer science degree
- Build integrations with different partners
- You have a strong desire to learn
Nice to haves

- Working knowledge of ruby
- Python or other scripting language, especially with regards to numerical analysis and visualization
- Experience with Looker, Tableau or other business intelligence platform.

Position 4: Software Engineer

- Building Golix web products according to their roadmap
- Building and documenting APIs

- You have 4 years professional software engineering experience
- You designed, built, scaled and maintained production services, and know how to compose a service oriented architecture.
- You write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.

- Experience decomposing a large monolith into services
- Built systems with financial or security constraints

It is great to see companies in Zimbabwe with jobs that require such sophisticated skills.
