Today at the TelOne Centre For Learning (TCFL) graduation ceremony, the Permanent Secretary for Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr. Eng. S. Kundishora officially opened and launched new diploma programs as well as new courses for the institution.

The new diplomas to be offered by TCFL effective January 2018 are as follows:

  • Diploma in Data Science

  • Diploma in Software Engineering

  • Diploma in Computer Network

  • Diploma in Digital Marketing

With the right curricula and up to date tech, these diplomas will be very relevant especially now that we are moving towards digital with the rest of the world. I mean every company irrespective of its co-business will need these skill sets lest they be disrupted and quickly become irrelevant. If not that, then the company’s efficiency will be greatly compromised.

These diplomas have also been declared HEXCO accredited.

TCFL is known for providing and hosting telecommunication courses, last year in October they hosted some training which covered topics like IP in Modern Networks, LTE Technology and Effective Telecoms Strategies.

However, instead of occasionally hosting such courses, TCFL has now partnered with Huawei, a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, to provide Huawei certified courses at the Institution. The list of the newly introduced courses is as follows:

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – DATACOM

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – LTE

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – CLOUD COMPUTING

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – DATACOM

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – STORAGE

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – SECURITY

  • Huawei Certified Network Associate Associate – ACCESS

It’s also a good thing to note that the courses introduced are Huawei certified because this gives weight to the certificate internationally since Huawei is one of the most well known tech giants. Also, according to the speech by the Perm Sec of ICT, Huawei has committed to providing the necessary technical support as far as these courses are concerned. This will eliminate the common problem of using outdated equipment which is quite common with most tertiary institutions in Zimbabwe.
