Is Google Prejudiced Against Jesus?

You may have seen the viral video of a woman asking Google Assistant ‘who is Jesus Christ?’ Google failed to respond and this got the Techzim team thinking whether Google holds prejudices against Jesus. If you haven’t check out the video below

In the video, Google seems to be ready to respond when asked about the identity of Buddha but not ready when asked about Jesus Christ. This seemed very damned prejudicial and being the geeks that we are we had to see for ourselves.

We tried asking Google Assistant about religion and a few other questions that seemed interesting to us.

In our tests, the Google Assistant could not give an answer to the identity of both Jesus and Buddha. We asked if Google followed a particular religion and the Assistant admitted it ‘wasn’t programmed to be religious.’

Google has no prejudices…

Our tests saw Google give the same response in relation to Jesus and Buddha’s identity. I think this proves Google Assistant has no religious prejudices.

Google probably just understands the fact that religion is a touchy subject. Any response the Google Assistant gives in relation to Jesus Christ or religion, in general, could create a controversy. If Google declared it’s religion as Christianity they would alienate all the other religions and risk losing those customers. Because that’s the case, Google makes sure that responses in relation to such touchy issues like religion/gender/politics are neutral.

Here are some other questions we tried to ask the Google Assistant.

Google’s Assistant tries its best not to step on any toes. The service opts for neutrality on issues that could cause any controversy or a potential loss of customers.

ah lol! but Jesus is there in Wikipedia? whilst aI may agree to neutrality, I think OK Google should be able to provide an answer relating to any topic just as what it did to Kim West and other queries. I think Google should re-think that field in favour of providing answers obviously. how may I activate OK Google myself? thanks for the article!

If you open the Google app on your phone, in the bottom right corner there is an icon that has 3 horizontal line, this will open a menu and in this menu there is a settings section. In the settings go to voice and you will see an option to activate the voice assistant.

That proof you just said is proof that google is neutral isn’t proof at all.

its like going to epworth then you find no multi storey houses & conclude that in Zimbabwe there arent any multi-storey houses.

your proofs have to be rigorous if you want us to believe that you are a geeky blog worthy to be trusted with accurate tech news

How would you have conducted the test more rigorously Mr/Mrs. Anonymous? Would love any feedback that helps us deliver more accurate and better content to our readers.

It would be great if they would actually have some of the best teachers from every religion teach about their religion. But of course google gets its info mostly from wikipedia which is a known for having untrue info on there. And known to delete info on religion.

I do not think the Google Assistant is powered by Wikipedia but I may be wrong.
