Ever heard the about the DEMO Africa Innovation Tour? In brief DEMO Africa conducts events in 12 African capital cities every year, these events, code named Innovation Tours, seek among other things to hunt for innovation ideas that can be converted into business ventures. The Innovation Tour for Southern Africa for 2018 will be held in Harare. Harare is the second city in Southern Africa that is hosting the Innovation Tours.

Thirty companies will be selected to launch their products at the main event in October in Morocco. The 30 companies will also receive mentorship and will attend a 2-day Bootcamp in preparation for their launch and software and services worth more than US $150,000 each for the next three years.
On 20 June 2018 at Crown Plaza Monomutapa Hotel, from 8AM to 5 PM, the Innovation tour will allow Entrepreneurs in Southern African a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of highly placed individuals in the technology sector. This event will pick a finalist who will represent Zimbabwe in October at the final event in Morocco. The finalist in Morocco will bag all the goodies we listed above among other things like exposure that we can’t name or exhaust.
DEMO Africa Innovation Tour, will select a panel of judges to rate each startup product based on a stated criteria. The panel will have the ability to pick out potentially successful startups that meet the stringent level of competition from across the continent. They expect that the companies are already investable, meaning:
– The company is registered
– There is a team capable of delivering the product to market
– There is a sizable addressable market for the product
In addition to the above, the startup/product must convince them that:
– The product is solving a commercial problem
– The business model is viable
– There is a real potential to scale the solution and be successful
