With the current dire economic situation, many Zimbabweans are being bankrolled by their friends and relatives in the diaspora to get by. Apart from the remittance, another way the diaspora can help their loved ones here is to pay bills for them.

A new platform called ZimBill is set to make it easier for the diaspora to directly pay bills for people back home. On top of making bill payments, diasporans can also make a subscription for various services. So basically ZimBill is a payments facilitating platform.

But Wait!

The platform is not yet operational. Its still being tested but soon you can make your payments smoothly.  I didn’t want you to curse me after you read from top to bottom and find out that the platform is not yet operational.

What you can pay using Zim Bill

  • Councils and utilities
  • Tuition fee to schools like Falcon, Peterhouse etc
  • DSTV subscriptions
  • Airtime- all Mobile Network Operators
  • Telecommunications – Telone, Zol
  • Donate to charity – Kubatana Kids, SPCA kids
  • Insurance and Medical Aid– EcoSure, CIMAS

How to pay

>Select a service provider

>Enter Your Details>Enter the billing account and recipient information

>Pay With Your VISA>Enter your VISA card information into the 3D secure VISA payment portal

We are yet to see ZimBill’s value proposition (when it gets fully operational) that differentiates it from the likes of Paynow and Steward Bank’s Square World which also facilitate payments for the Zimbabwean diaspora.
