Zimbabwe To Host 2018 Innovation Africa Summit

Participants at e-Tech Africa

This coming week Zim will be playing host to many delegates from a variety of other African countries as we host the 8th Innovation Africa Summit. The summit is a ministerial-level forum with a focus on education and technology. Industry partners enjoy pre-scheduled meetings and committed engagement with ministers and senior government officials from over 40 countries.

The summit will be hosted over 3 days from the 28th of this month and this summit might be important to our country during this time…

Transition

Depending on who you ask, we are either in transition or we are not progressing at all. I do believe we are in transition and because that’s the case a lot of our ministers and the government is taking into a consideration a lot of ideas they normally wouldn’t give the time of day. This makes this conference much more important as there is a genuine opportunity for us to see some reforms being made as a result.

The Ministry of Information acknowledges as much and one of the things Zim is looking for assistance with is in the creation of e-content:

Zimbabwe is implementing a new competence-based curriculum and accordingly wishes to work with partners who can assist with increasing capacity, professional teacher development, creation of e-content and introducing technology and devices in the classroom.

Another focus highlighted by the information is to build 2000 new schools by 2030 along with enabling WiFi connectivity in schools countrywide.

There’s an app too…

You can download the Innovation Africa Summit on Android, iOS or access the web app which will work on your phone, desktop or tablet. The app will act as a mobile event guide and contains section for you to keep track of meetings, the summit agenda, attendees, panellists and a lot more information surrounding the event.
