Ok so if you have a YouTube channel and you’ve reached the acclaimed monetized status on your channel you wouldn’t want to compromise the bag because of some colourful language. Considering Zimbabwe’s largely conservative population I don’t think there should be too much of an issue when it comes to language.
Anyway if you do insist on toeing the line and you consider yourself an edgy creator, Creator Inside has you covered. The channel has some pretty cool insights for creators and they touch on the do’s and do nots of YT. And yes, these are not just random guys; they are actually part of the creator team at YouTube so best believe they know a thing or two about how the platform works.
Anyway, when it comes to language you can and cannot use in your videos the Creator Inside presenters said:
Things like dang, shoot, damn, hell, no worries about those like they’re totally safe to monetize. You can use them as much as you want in your video, the title or thumbnail.
You can watch the video below to get a full understand but it seems the more extreme profanities can also be deemed acceptable depending on the context (such as the time at which you use the stronger language ) in which case your video won’t get de-monetized:
Of course, none of this applies if you’re using a language such as Shona and Ndebele but profanity in these vernacular languages is even less socially acceptable so it will be interesting to see if channels with this type of content are even reaching the monetization thresholds, to begin with…
