Adobe is shaking things up in the document game with the launch of Acrobat Studio, a new platform that’s essentially a fusion of PDF tools, AI superpowers, and even creative design stuff from Adobe Express.
They say to think of it as your all-in-one hub for getting things done, whether you’re at the office, home, or tackling school assignments.
PDF Spaces
The interesting part of Acrobat Studio is PDF Spaces. This is where the magic happens. You can pull together multiple documents from PDFs to docs, etc, and even web links, into a single, conversational workspace. No more sifting through countless files.
Within a PDF Space, you can:
- Chat with an AI Assistant: Ask questions about all your combined documents and get answers with citations, even from charts and tables.
- Summarise: Like a Pro: Need a quick overview? The generative AI can instantly summarise your PDFs.
- Collaborate: Share your PDF Spaces with colleagues or classmates for teamwork.
- Personalise Your AI Sidekick: Use prebuilt AI assistants (e.g., for analysis or instruction) or customise one to tailor responses for your specific tasks.
You can upload up to 100 documents in a PDF Space and I imagine that will be enough for most research projects.
Adobe Express Features
Acrobat Studio also gets Adobe Express integration, bringing design tools into the mix. This means Acrobat subscribers (Standard or Pro) can spice up their documents with professional-grade visuals. You get access to:
- Templates: A huge library of professionally designed templates for everything from reports to CVs.
- Adobe Stock Content: Millions of high-quality images, videos, and music tracks to use in whatever you create.
- Generative AI (Adobe Firefly): You can:
- Remove and Insert Objects: Modify images using simple text prompts.
- Text Effects: Create unique text styles.
- Image Generation: Generate new images from text.
Adobe says when you go into these design features, it will transition to Adobe Express in a new tab, and so you will easily be able to jump between the design stuff and the other stuff.
Not for the Light Pocketed
Acrobat Studio starts at US$24.99 per month for individuals (billed annually). This price gives you all the Acrobat Pro tools you’re used to, plus the new AI Assistant for Acrobat and access to Adobe Express Premium.
If you’re looking for just the AI Assistant for an existing Acrobat plan, that’s available for US$4.99 per month.
Adobe is integrating AI and creative tools into the core of document management, aiming to make workflows smarter and more visually engaging. Did you ask for this? Who cares? It is here and it could be huge for some.
