Some readers argued that Tengai, the new online classifieds startup, though registered and fully operational as an entity that is not a subsidiary of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe or the Econet Group, has ties to the mobile operator and is leaning on this association in a way that violates net neutrality.
TechCabal dedicated an article to tracking where ex-Rocket Nigeria CEOs are now and in the post they reveal that Econet hired James Gibson, the former MD of Hellofood, Rocket’s food delivery startup. He is now heading e-commerce in the group. This, and the EcoShopper launch, show Econet would rather hire and do e-commerce internally than invest in startups.
