This steady growth has been supported by Facebook’s focus on emerging markets such as India, and also in Africa, where Facebook registered a clearer presence with offices opened this year.

Facebook also plans to offer internet services to the continent via satellite. The African continent now accounts for 120 million active monthly users of the social network, with 80% of users accessing it through mobile devices.
