Chartered Accountants May Be Interested In ICAZ’s New App

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe recently introduced an app specifically for it’s members. The application is meant to act as a hub for members to get easy access to events, fellow members and information related to exams.

Let’s take a quick look at what you can expect when you install the application…

Alerts

On the home page you are greeted by two options, Alerts and Events.  Alerts is kind of a self-explanatory section but it will contain a variety of notifications to do with ICAZ events and messages if you’re using the social functionality in the app. We’ll talk about the social media section in a bit.

Events

Funny enough, the alerts section had the Winterschool update but that wasn’t in the events section so I’m assuming the events that make it into the Alerts are the ones of high priority.

The events section keeps a log of past and upcoming events. There is also a map view of events where the events are pinned to their locations in a Google maps view.

Some social stuff as well…

The application has a connect section where you can get in touch with other chartered accountants and send messages. This section doesn’t offer something special that can’t be done on Facebook or Whatsapp but I guess it’s an easier way to find people in the field and have business conversations without having to send a request on Facebook or get their number on Whatsapp.

…And many more ‘things’

There is also a more section which has a guide on “How to become a chartered accountant” which contains on the paths students should take depending on their current levels of education. Also found in this more section is information on exams, the ICAZ library, training offices, training, and the Chartered Accountants Students Society (CASS).

One thing that seemed pretty strange to me was the fact that when I signed up and created an account there was no verification of any sorts. I just signed up and pretended to be an accountant for one of the many organisations listed when you are signing up. This means anyone can end up signing up even those who are not members

It’s an interesting application and it looks quite useful for chartered accounts, though it’s hard to give a definitive opinion since I’m not the target user and I’m not sure what exactly appeals to CA’s.

MyIcaz App is available on both Android & iOS
