ZBC Launches New Radio Station In Gweru

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has launched a new radio station in Gweru. Central Radio is set to target the middle aged and elderly. It will be broadcasting programs on sport, business, industry, news and giving the residents of Gweru and the mining towns of Kwekwe, Shurugwi, Mvuma, Shangani a platform to interact. Central Radio will be on frequency 95.8 and will cover a radius of 130 km. Its programs will be in Shona, English and Ndebele.

This radio station becomes the second local commercial station for ZBC after the Bulawayo based Khulumani FM which went on air this year and Central Radio is now the second commercial station in Gweru after AB Communications’ 98.4 .

This I believe is a good step by the ZBC as this station adds to the employment and gives the people in Midlands a  chance to engage and talk about and solve the problems specific to them.
