Bank charges in Zimbabwe

Bank charges are a necessary evil that we must endure while transacting. Banks charge their customers fees for a number of services which include:

  • Service Charges
  • ZIPIT Fees
  • Point of Sale (POS)
  • Internal Transfers
  • Card Issuing Fees
  • Withdrawal Fees
Local Transaction Charges

Transaction charges are the fees that banks charge you when you move money from one account to another as well as when you pay for goods and services.

Requirements

All banks if you are opening a full KYC Account need you to have the following :

  • 2 passport sized photos
  • Proof of income or payslip
  • Proof of residence

After you have these forms you will need to go to the bank and collect application forms. Alternatively you can see if the bank you want to open an account with has forms online. One convenient option is FBC’s bank App which allows you to open an account without minimal documentation required. All you need to do is to download the app (Android, iOS) you’ll then need to

  • Fill out your name
  • Take a selfie
  • Provide proof of residence
  • Provide a signature through your mobile device
  • Address
Prepaid USD Charges
Requirements

BancABC has a convenient program called Dail-A-Visa, all you’ll need to do is call Branch X on 08677008758 and request a VISA prepaid card. They will ask for your address and name and a driver will deliver the card to your home or office.

When the driver arrives you will need to fill out a form and pay him US$10.00, US$5.00 is for account opening and card issuing and the other US$5.00 is a deposit

FBC has a MasterCard prepaid that you will need to visit an FBC branch, ZIMPOST or TelOne outlet. You will need to bring 2 passport sized photos, proof of residence and US$20 to deposit.
