Instagram recently announced that they will be rolling out face filter to the live video section of their mobile apps. You will be able to add different face filters like rainbow light or glasses during a live video for your friends and followers to see. The feature will be rolling out globally over the next several weeks.
Once the feature has arrived, to start using it, first navigate to the Instagram Stories section of the app. Now, instead of taking an ordinary picture or a fast-forward video, select the Instagram Live section. To the right of the button that says ‘Start Live Video’, there should be a new icon of a smiley face.
Click that icon to select any face filter that you’d like to use in the live video. Alternatively, you start a live video without select a face filter and during the broadcast, if you decide to spice up things by adding a face filter, the same icon will be located in the bottom right corner of your screen. So you can just click it and select a face filter even during the live video.
With this new feature, Instagram is also rolling out a new sunglasses face filter which will be available exclusively in Instagram Live video for the next week. You will be able to tap the sunglasses to change the scenery that is reflected in your lenses. Hopefully, the actual face filters feature in an Instagram live video will roll out within the next week to you so you can enjoy this new filter.
Even though this is not a new feature to the world as Facebook’s Messenger has it when you’re doing a live video call with someone, it’s still good to see companies adding new ways for people to connect and share by leveraging technology like augmented reality which is the one being used in this upcoming face filters feature. Let us what you think about this upcoming feature.
Do you think it will be that useful? What would you want Instagram to add to live video? Do you go live on Instagram that often? Or maybe you don’t even use Instagram at all.
