Econet to provide free unlimited Wi-Fi at ICT Africa 2011

Staff Writer Avatar

We got notified today by Econet that they will be providing free Wi-Fi internet at this year’s ICT Africa. The free Wi-Fi will be available to everyone at the venue for the entire duration of the exhibition. And it is unlimited! This is set to attract a lot of visitors to the exhibition; Internet  connectivity is pretty expensive in Zimbabwe.

ICT Africa 2011 kicks off tomorrow. The exhibition is Zimbabwe’s ICT industry not-to-miss event. It’s the only one of its size and attracts ICT players from all over the country (and a few from the region) to exhibit their products and services to the public for 3 days. This year’s event will run at the Harare International Conference Center.

WELL ITS ABOUT TIME WE GOT SOMETHING FREE FROM THIS LOT.   ECONET LIKE ALL THE OTHER PLAYERS IN THE FIELD ARE SERIOUS RIP OFF ARTISTS WHO IF THE PLACE WAS NORMAL WOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR OVERCHARGING.  AS YOU HAVE STATED INTERNET CONNECTIVITY IS EXPENSIVE IN ZIM.   THAT IS A LITTLE UNDERSTATEMENT HOWEVER.   IT IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE REGION.

I Agree with ARTIST, Econet is such a major Rip Off, i mean who in Southern Africa pays $90usd for just 1 Gig of data? I was at the ICTAfrica, that WI-Fi didnt work for me. All they need is real competition for them to stop this madness, its sad how they are taking advantage of the monopolistic situation they are in.
