Worry not if you are a user of a Huawei laptop because Microsoft has still got your back when it comes to providing you with security updates. Yesterday Microsoft confirmed:
We remain committed to providing exceptional customer experiences. Our initial evaluation of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision on Huawei has indicated we may continue to offer Microsoft software updates to customers with Huawei devices
Up until now, Microsoft had not disclosed whether it would or would not be continuing to support Huawei laptops. The silence was particularly disconcerting for the Huawei’s laptop owners, whose hardware, without Windows 10 updates, would be vulnerable.
While this doesn’t amount to a confirmation of continued support beyond the existing laptops per se, it reassures current Huawei laptop users that their machines can still be secure.
Meanwhile, Intel confirmed that it would continue to provide security updates and drivers to users running Intel chips of which they are in Huawei’s laptop’s as well. It’s equally good news for Huawei users as well.
