Local business people looking for funding might be interested to know that a new opportunity for investment has emerged.

Dragons’ Den Zimbabwe, a new business pitch reality show  (produced by Invision Studios) that is modeled around the globally recognized Dragons Den series where participating entrepreneurs try to secure investment from 5 established business personalities (known as dragons) is preparing for the series premiere set for October 2016.

It has released an application form for any local entrepreneurs that want to take part in the reality show and get a shot at investor funding.

You can follow this link here to the Dragons’ Den Zimbabwe application form.

The application captures details about the entrepreneur and their business such as a summary of the business idea and the amount of funding required. Participants will be expected to turn up for filming between August and September.

Its launch comes after Simba Savannah another local business pitch reality show with the same format aired its pilot episode recently.

    Who are the investors???

    1. Nigel Gambanga

Their names haven’t been released yet.

      1. WARNING!!! WARNING!!!

Unless they’ve acquired official syndication rights from the BBC to broadcast a Zim version of “Dragons Den” (I’m strong inclined to doubt), I would advise ALL potential applicants to treat this with a severe degree of caution! DO NOT be fooled into handing over your potentially awesome business idea to strangers! You’ll certainly live to regret it!

Is it only supposed to be a start-up or even merely concepts are welcome?

Even concepts are welcome. Your ideas remain yours. Nothing is “stolen”.

Don’t be ignorant and doubt that they havent already gotten rights from BBC you idiot. The company producing the show is Invision Studios and they have already acquired the rights to produce the show from Sony Pictures. You can visit their website on http://www.invisionworld.com or call the producer Charles on 0734819985 to clarify.

This is a great development, hope people join in. All these startup competitions & tv shows help to encourage people to venture into entrepreneurship. This also helps to refine ideas both for the participants and for people watching

There is no single business idea that has not been thought of by someone so i see no reason why one should not submit their ideas for fear of their idea being stolen

Entrepreneurship is not about ideas, its about creating an MVP that people are prepared to pay something for, the ability to execute, passion for the idea & perseverance

Here are my 20 ideas yo can steal
    1. Peer to peer money transfer web & mobile app
    2. Health app (linking doctors to patients)
    3. Saliva based disease identification tool linked to an app
    4. Water purifier that can turn sewage water into safe drinking water
    5. Miniaturized Asset tracking tool (different sizes from tags to nano particles)
    6. Self propelling electricity generator
    7. Augmented reality e-commerce website (touch and feel products before buying – have an api enabling other people to use on their sites)
    8. Agricultural marketplace (web & mobile app) for farmers
    9. eTicketing system (soccer matches, movies, events)
    10. e-betting app
    11. Elearning app for scholls
    12. Car parking finder
    13. Leaner drivers app (images & augmented reality)
    14. Food delivery app
    15. Price comparison app
    16. Car riding app
    17. Home cleaning app (home cleaning, laundry, gardening)
    18. Language translation app
    19. Twitter/Facebook/Youtube app for Zimbabwe
    20. Online payments system (website, device, merchant side, app)

Hi Techzim. There is this company you wrote about recently *365# something. I bought electricity from them a week ago but up to now nothing. Can you ask them what’s going on before I do something that can tarnish their image.I support local startups and I would love to see them succeed.

  9. Patience

Skeptics are the most pathetic people. They never do anything because they are afraid of risk.Take this opportunity or let your business plan gather dust and webs in your drawers.
