Grab The Xiaomi Redmi 5 4G Phablet For Only $129.99 Limited Ecocash Offer Available

Being the owner of a Xiaomi phone I am always amazed at how well the device performs compared to my friends’ more popular brands like Samsung and Huawei. In fact when it comes to value for money Xiaomi has no equal in my book.

The Redmi 5 is an amazing phone I have written much on in the past. Normally when you want to buy it online you will have to part with $177 dollars on Gearbest. As part of Gearbest’s Mid-Year sale you can get the device for only $129.99 plus $1.03 shipping costs to your local Post Office.

How Good is the Xiaomi Redmi 5?

If you somehow missed my early gushing on the superpowers of the device here are the specifications:

  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB ROM
  • Dual SIM
  • 12 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera
  • Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 custom ROM i.e. Android 7.1.2. Xioami quickly delivers patches and updates to its ROM unlike other phone makers who either don’t bother or are slow
  • Snapdragon 450. Yes you can play the Android version of the FIFA franchise games on this with no problem
  • A massive 5.7″ display that comes in a 18:9 ratio and 720p resolution
  • A 3300 mAH battery which will give you about a day and a half of charge with about 6-9 hours of on screen usage
  • LTE (4G) connectivity and the usual WiFi
  • A fingerprint sensor
  • Colour Rose

How to buy

Buying is easy just click on this link to visit the Gearbest page for the phone page. Click on Buy now, go the the Cart and check out. If you have not yet created an account you will be asked to do so. You will need an account in order to keep track of your order. You can make the payment using a Visa Card or MasterCard that can make international payments.

[Update]

The Ecocash offer has expired. You are free however to buy the phone at this discounted price using your own card as mentioned above.

If you don’t have one I can help you make the purchase using Ecocash. Please note this is a limited offer on a first come first serve basis. As soon as I run out of funds the Ecocash offer expires. To take advantage of the offer follow these steps:

  • Get in touch via WhatsApp on 0772 473 953
  • If I give you the go ahead send $178 (the USD equivalent of the $130) to the same number
  • Send me your address and legal name
  • I will promptly make the order on your behalf
  • Once the device ships I will send you the tracking number

A small matter of duty

Phones are liable to pay duty of 25% plus VAT of 15% . You will be asked to pay this at the Post Office when you go to collect the phone. The Post Office will also charge you $10 handling fee for delivering the phone to you. All these amounts can be paid using swipe/Ecocash.

Is buying a phone online worth it?

The local prices of phones with these kind of specifications is around $500 while the total cost for buying online will be way below this depending on how you get the USD. One thing to note is when buying a phone locally is that the people selling it to you went through the same thing including duty payment so really buying online is always cheaper.

I got my 1st Xiaomi phone in 2014, the original Redmi Note. I loved that phone & i used it for 2 years then gave it to my wife who destroyed it in 2 months. Accessories where a challenge though. Sadly, the shop i got it from stopped importing them & went round the Astros & the Tecnos without any joy or happiness. In December 2017 upon the release of the Redmi 5 Plus, i made it a target of mine to go back to the brand i like. I now have a Redmi 5 Plus 4GB 64GB & i have to say i am VERY satisfied with my purchase. I also got the wife a Redmi 5 Plus as well but a 3GB 32GB (WhatsApp & Facebook dont need a lot of power or space, besides ya daddy has to be better…kkkkkkk) & yes she destroyed the shatter glass in 3 days. My advice to buyers, which is what i did this time, when you by the phone, buy all the accesories you need, the pouches, shatterglasses etc with your purchase coz you wont find them locally.(and if you are buying for wifey, buy more than 1 shatter glass, maybe 10, coz they wont last…kkkkkkk). Bottom line, Xiaomi is a solid brand, i dont complain battery life, can go 2 days with moderate use (4000 mAh) and user experience is snappy. Updates are frequent & they actually respond to reported bugs unlike….

True. I bought my mum a Redmi 5 2g 16g. Couldn’t find shatter glasses and pouches that fit on it. Had to buy the items from supplier. They are in transit now

Huawei is the way to go.

Huawei is the way to go. Samsung is good but the batteries are very poor, when you buy a Samsung make sure you buy a power bank – unfair considering Samsung prices.

had a low budget got my self a S4 worst decision of my life. Planning t switch to xiaomi but i have Baclays card visa does that work for online purchases. i also want to buy some accessories once

Agreed have had mine for nearly 3 months now from an Lg g3 i used for 2 years, have to say so far satisfied, and love the battery life. Also saw the Redmi note 4 in town going for $450 can u imagine even before the recent price hikes

  9. Nice

Been using a redmi note 4 and it’s been wonderful… Absolute zero complaints and the battery was a suprise. It lasts one to two days easily… Plus they release a lot of security updates that even Samsung did not…. Airways get the shatterproof goodg my wife already has gone through two in the space of 3 months…. In the end I was so impressed got my brother and wife one as well…

im a very happy user of another Chinese brand , a Meizu M5s, its in the same league as XIaomi as an independent and very reliable brand from China. i agree some of these brands arent well known here in Zim but they are very good phones.
