Earlier today, we mentioned how Econet Wireless, the country’s largest mobile operator was experiencing a challenge with its network. Subscribers were failing to make calls and send text messages, and some had taken to social media to vent their frustration.

Econet has now sorted the issue and has sent out an apology on social media and in true mobile network fashion, via SMS as well.

Econet Wireless would like to extend its sincere apologies for the disruption of services that was experienced this... Posted by Econet Zimbabwe on Monday, 31 August 2015

As the apology shows, this wasn't a problem with whole network, but was experienced by users in some parts of the country. Interestingly the issue of the network disruption started some discussion on how POTRAZ, the telecoms regualtor should deal with such disruptions.

Well done econet for fixing this and informing people even though a bit late. Also, a bit more infor of what went wrong would be nice.

Also, a fine from Potraz is not bad so that you keep away from doing it again and again.

This network going for the past few days now and even up to now its in shumbles. Econet really needs to up its game and stop taking advantage of its custombers. Bank in the days i could remember a warning is given forehead the upgrades and or any other activities that cause a disruption on their network. ………. i just can wait till the zimbabwean market gets to adopt the “esim technology”
